Mission Statement
We gather as sister friends to celebrate in the Divine gift of our femininity. It is our wish to offer time and space where women will feel safe to support, nurture, share and comfort each other.
Who We Are
We are women of all ages, races, and backgrounds living in and around Groton, New York who have come together to find friendship, support one another, share our combined wisdom and become a community. The Women's Gathering is non-denominational, and non-political and open to all interested women. Although we are not a religious organization, there seems to be an inherent "spirituality and power" as women realize they have deep connections, common experiences, needs and strong desires to nurture themselves, each other and humanity.
It is a truly amazing and evolving Gathering of Women!
Two friends, Sidney Moonchild and Janet Jacobs, were divinely inspired to gather women together for mutual support, networking, companionship, and sharing of wisdom of all kinds. On October 13, 2007, the first Womens' Gathering was held in the beautiful Thou Art Gallery. This new art gallery, which features art and crafts created by local artisans, is housed in a beautiful old church with soaring ceilings and stained glass windows.

Twenty-six woman who had heard of the event by word-of-mouth arrived to participate. Many didn't know anyone else but all came with an open mind and heart and left with the warmth of new friends and excitement of new possibilities!
Before the second Gathering, women were already contacting each other developing new friendships and spreading the enthusiasm of the Gathering to other women. In November, women brought food to share made from recipes given to them by special women in their lives. Joan Cerio, author of In The Key of Life, was an honored guest visiting from Sedona, Arizona. The Gathering of Women grew larger with new women.
Our Gathering meets the second Saturday of each month at 6:00 p.m. at Thou Art Gallery, 111 Church Street, Groton, NY 13073. Please note the Gathering details below. Everyone is welcome.
Our next meeting will take place on Saturday, October 11, 2008, at 6:00 pm. This is a reservation only meeting where our Gathering will be hosting the Council of 13 Indigenous Grandmothers. Reservations are now closed.
