The Grandmothers Have Arrived

by Sidney Moonchild, 2005

I have felt that I walk with the Grandmothers for many years now.  I began this painting as I begin all abstracts,  in the lower left-hand corner massing in the color.   From that point on this painting was not the same at all.  I could see figures under the paint and began scraping off the first layer.  As I did this, the Grandmothers began to appear.  One after the other, across the canvas.  (There are four Grandmothers...from left to right...an Indigenous with staff, a Grandmother that wears what appears to be a safari type hat with vail, an Angel with wings clapping her hands, and a very cocky, sassy Grandmother wearing a pillbox type of hat with feathers).  This painting hangs in my living room.  It has never been, nor will it be, offered for sale.  I thought you might enjoy the images of the Grandmothers passed on as they appeared to me.  Many blessings...Sidney

So...there are times in our lives when we come to realizations that we are neither perfect, nor with the answers in life. When I feel that way...I either pick up my pen or my camera and release everything I am feeling with greater clarity of intention and thought. I wrote this poem this past weekend. Hope you all enjoy it and hope some of you share it with someone special in your life. We've all been here :-)
Have a great day, this Kitty's spent!

Because I Loved Him
It was because I loved him I had to let him know, it was because I love him I had to let him go. His touch, his laughter, his smile, and his voice they comforted me through this difficult time in my life. His wit,  his charm his strong and loving arms, his nose, his mouth, his lips and tongue, all left me feeling like we certainly  belonged.

I tried to fight these feelings so strong, I tried to resist him with all my mite,if it wasn't for his tenderness and is charm that took me to new heights. I am sure now when I look back on our days I could have resisted and warded of his loving gaze. He thinks I loved him for all the wrong reasons, never realizing that I would have never deceived him.

Love is a strange bird a unique creature like no other, always hurts more when it's the love of your lover. We ask in life for someone to love, for that perfect soul mate that fits us like a glove. We find them and we lose them and we suffer unthinkable pain, the ironic part is with every lover lost we never end our pain.

Tis a grown woman that knows when the war has been beat, and a real woman that continues to walk on her own two feet. The love for another should never rival the love for yourself, for when it does your fate is to remain truly void and without.

It was because I love him I had to let him know, it was because I loved him that we now are free to grow. Words can not express what he's given to me and I am sure in some ways he feels the same about me. Goodbye my sweet love, goodbye to you I plea...don't leave hating or feeling mad at me. I did this for you, I did this for me. It was simply because I loved him that I made him say Goodbye to me.
