The Grandmothers Have Arrived
by Sidney Moonchild, 2005
I have felt that I walk with the Grandmothers for many years now. I began this painting as I begin all abstracts, in the lower left-hand corner massing in the color. From that point on this painting was not the same at all. I could see figures under the paint and began scraping off the first layer. As I did this, the Grandmothers began to appear. One after the other, across the canvas. (There are four Grandmothers...from left to right...an Indigenous with staff, a Grandmother that wears what appears to be a safari type hat with vail, an Angel with wings clapping her hands, and a very cocky, sassy Grandmother wearing a pillbox type of hat with feathers). This painting hangs in my living room. It has never been, nor will it be, offered for sale. I thought you might enjoy the images of the Grandmothers passed on as they appeared to me. Many blessings...Sidney

So...there are times in our lives when we come to realizations that we are neither perfect, nor with the answers in life. When I feel that way...I either pick up my pen or my camera and release everything I am feeling with greater clarity of intention and thought. I wrote this poem this past weekend. Hope you all enjoy it and hope some of you share it with someone special in your life. We've all been here :-)
Have a great day, this Kitty's spent!
